ASA Testimonies

"Through the ASA position, I had the opportunity to strengthen my interpersonal skills, professional mannerism, and public speaking skills by closely working with Western faculty members, along with welcoming incoming students. By being part of the ASA team, you’ll always feel supported and you’ll have the chance to create strong connections with your peers and faculty members."

“Being part of the ASA team was really an exceptional experience, and I was able to grow both professionally and personally. Within this role I improved upon my public speaking skills, my interpersonal communication, and my ability to be part of a cohesive team. On top of that, I got the opportunity to get excited with new students! Orientation is one of their first experiences here at Western and it was incredible to be part of their initial community-building here.”

Being an Academic Student Advisor last summer helped me grow professionally and individually. It gave me the opportunity to work closely with faculty, staff, and other students from different areas that, otherwise, I wouldn't have met. It also improved and gave me confidence in my communication and presentation skills. It was a wonderful and fun experience that I highly recommend to those interested in connecting more with Western and your fellow students!
